Live Slim Again with LAP-BAND®
Lose 40 to 50 Pounds… and Keep it Off
If you have tried the most rigorous diet and exercise programs and are still having trouble shedding those extra 40 to 50 pounds, you may be eligible for LAP-BAND® Adjustable Gastric Banding surgery to help you lose weight and keep it off. New FDA rules have made it possible for many patients to be LAP-BAND® System candidates who may not have qualified for the procedure before. This minimally invasive weight loss procedure can help you lose significant amounts of weight and give you a slimmer, healthier physique.
The DFW Bariatric Institute offers a comprehensive LAP-BAND® System surgery program here at our practice, designed to help you every step of the way during your weight loss and ensure you are shedding the pounds safely and effectively. Please contact us today for more information, or to schedule a consultation with one of our surgeons.
New FDA Approval
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has recently lowered the minimum requirements for patients to qualify for LAP-BAND® Adjustable Gastric Banding surgery, one of the most commonly performed surgical weight loss methods in the U.S. These new FDA guidelines can help millions of patients who do not fall into the category of being morbidly obese. Now, patients who have a body mass index (BMI) of 30 or more, in addition to at least one comorbidity (a serious health condition related to obesity) such as hypertension, Type-2 diabetes, sleep apnea, or other conditions, may be candidates for LAP-BAND® System surgery.
If you have previously been ruled out as a candidate for LAP-BAND® Adjustable Gastric Banding surgery because your BMI was less than 35, the new approval from the FDA may now make it possible for you to be eligible for this procedure.
Live Slim Again
Our weight loss surgery team here at the DFW Bariatric Institute understands how difficult it can be to shed 40 to 50 extra pounds and start living a healthier life with a slimmer figure. The LAP-BAND® System can help by offering you a way to feel full more quickly at mealtimes. The procedure includes an entire program designed to help you change your dietary habits and keep the weight off.
All of our weight loss surgeons are highly experienced with these procedures. This fully reversible restrictive weight loss treatment is performed laparoscopically, which makes it possible for our bariatric surgeon to perform surgery through very small incisions. This helps to minimize residual scarring, as well as recovery time from the procedure. Our bariatric surgeon will attach an elastic band around the top part of the stomach to create a small stomach chamber. When you eat, food and liquids will be digested through this smaller stomach pouch, giving you an earlier feeling of fullness. One of the chief benefits of the LAP-BAND® System is that the band around the stomach can be removed or adjusted at any time – it can be tightened to allow less food intake before you feel full, or loosened to accommodate more food before a feeling of fullness sets in.
With the LAP-BAND® System, there is no stapling or cutting of the stomach. The procedure can be performed on an outpatient basis, and it may even be covered by your insurance policy!
Get Back into Those Skinny Jeans
If you’ve tried every possible diet and exercise regimen you know of, and you are still having trouble losing weight and keeping it off, LAP-BAND® Adjustable Gastric Banding surgery may be a good option for you. The procedure is not a “cure” for obesity; rather, it is a tool to help you lose weight and continue down a path to better health, reduced risk for serious health conditions associated with obesity, and a slimmer physique. Our team at the DFW Bariatric Institute will design an entire treatment plan for you that includes a comprehensive aftercare program to make sure you are losing weight safely. With LAP-BAND® System weight loss surgery, plus a new diet and exercise plan, you can get back into your “skinny jeans” again and feel great about your appearance!
As with any procedure, there are risks to LAP-BAND® System surgery. Though rare, some of these risks include perforation of organs, slippage, erosion, excessive vomiting, infections, and durability issues of any implants device.
Please have a look through our website for more information on what you can expect from the procedure and recovery, and to find more details on candidacy requirements. You can also contact one of our surgeons to schedule a one-on-one consultation and they will be happy to answer all of your questions and go over all aspects of LAP-BAND® Adjustable Gastric Banding surgery.
