BMI Calculator
What does your BMI mean?
BMI, or body mass index, is a system of measurement that helps a patient figure out how overweight he or she is. A BMI of 20 to 25 is considered normal. 25 to 30 is considered overweight. 30.1 to 34.9 is considered obese. You are a candidate for weight loss surgery if your BMI is 40 or greater or if you have a BMI between 35 and 39.9 along with a serious health problem. The U.S. FDA has recently approved the LAP-BAND® Adjustable Gastric Banding System for use in patients who have a BMI of 30 or more and at least one serious health problem (comorbidity) related to obesity.
"I thought I was a pretty happy fat person. Hiding behind my jokes and laughter, I did not know how much my weight controlled my life. I never knew what true happiness was until I had my surgery. Some people don't like to tell people when they have had weight loss surgery but I tell everyone because I feel everyone deserves to be this happy!"

Sometimes, no matter how hard you try to lose weight through traditional weight loss methods, nothing seems to be working effectively and helping you meet your ultimate goals. That’s why LAP-BAND® weight loss surgery, a minimally invasive surgical weight loss treatment, may be a good solution to help you lose significant amounts of weight and start Living Slim Again. New FDA guidelines can now help some patients who were previously determined to be ineligible for LAP-BAND® surgery qualify for the procedure.
Please contact Dr. David Kim at the Live Life Again Center for Bariatric Surgery for more information, or to schedule a consultation for LAP-BAND® weight loss surgery.
LAP-BAND® Adjustable Gastric Banding Surgery is one of the most popular surgical weight loss procedures in the United States, and today, the treatment is available to millions of patients who do not need to be classified as morbidly obese. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration recently issued new guidelines for LAP-BAND® System surgery that approve the procedure for use in individuals with a body mass index (BMI) of 30 or more, plus at least one severe obesity-related health condition. These health conditions, known as co-morbidities, can include sleep apnea, hypertension, Type-2 diabetes, and others.
If you have considered bariatric surgery in the past, but were ruled out as a candidate because your body mass index was less than 35, these new FDA guidelines may make it possible for you to qualify for LAP-BAND® Adjustable Gastric Banding Surgery.
Lapband's with Dr Kim start at $9950
Dr. David Kim understands how frustrating it can be to shed those extra pounds and keep them off. He has spent his career helping patients slim their physiques, reduce the risk of serious health conditions caused by obesity, and start living healthier and happier. With these new FDA guidelines for LAP-BAND® System surgery, Dr. Kim can help patients who may just need to lose 40 to 50 pounds of extra weight feel better about how they look. Plus, the LAP-BAND® System involves an entire new dietary program that can help you keep the weight off. LAP-BAND® Adjustable Gastric Banding Surgery is a fully reversible restrictive weight loss procedure. Through very small incisions, Dr. Kim attaches an elastic band around the upper portion of the stomach, creating a smaller stomach pouch. This makes it possible for you to attain a feeling of fullness much quicker when you eat, and help you lose weight. If you would eventually like to be able to eat more or eat less before feeling full, the gastric band can be adjusted (or even removed) to accommodate your needs. One of the best benefits of LAP-BAND® Adjustable Gastric Banding Surgery is the fact that the procedure itself involves no cutting or stapling of the stomach, and therefore requires minimal recovery time. In fact, the LAP-BAND® System is often performed as an outpatient. Your insurance policy may even cover the procedure!
The LAP-BAND® is designed to help those who have tried just about everything and cannot seem to lose weight and keep it off. It’s not a magical cure for obesity – but it can be an effective tool to help you lose weight by significantly altering your dietary habits start living a healthier lifestyle. Our practice offers a comprehensive treatment process that will monitor your progress after surgery to ensure you are losing weight safely and effectively. With the combination of LAP-BAND® surgery and a focused new diet and exercise plan, Dr. David Kim can help you fit into “skinny jeans” again and feel great about the way you look.
