You are a candidate for weight loss surgery if your BMI is 40 or greater or if you have a BMI between 35 and 39.9 along with a serious health problem. Your Steps to Weight loss success- The Live Life Again Process

Individuals interested in a gastric bypass, gastric sleeve resection or Lapband system procedure in Fort Worth must complete the following steps before surgery

Step 1. Call... Or contact us now to schedule a personal one on one consultation with Dr. Kim.
Patients interested in gastric bypass, gastric sleeve resection or a lapband system procedure need to schedule a consultation [http://www.drdkim.net/contact/] to meet Dr. Kim personally for a one on one discussion. Please fill out the medical history packet and submit prior to your scheduled appointment.

Step 2. Meet with Dr. Kim and our Live Life Again staff to determine the best procedure for your weight loss goals.
Our staff of bariatric professionals is here to help you in each phase of your weight loss journey. When you come in for your initial consultation with Dr. Kim, you will be weighed and measured to get a true BMI. Our clinical staff will get you in a room to have a swallow test to check for hernias or any existing esophageal or gastric issues. One of our Physician Assistants will get any additional medical history information. You will then meet with Dr. Kim to determine which procedure is best suited to your goals and lifestyle. Before you leave, you will be able to sit down with our insurance/financing department to determine your insurance requirements or payment options.

Step 3. Schedule your surgery
After you have met your insurance requirements or if you have chosen the fast track program it will be time to schedule your surgery and be on your new journey. If you have already received approval from our insurance company or if you will be paying cash or financing your procedure, then you should be able to schedule your surgery within 2 weeks.

Step 4. Attend Bariatric University
In order to make sure our patients are well prepared for this exciting new journey, we have created an educational program called Bariatric University. Run by nurse coordinator, Pam Katekaru, R.N., this class details what you can expect before, during and after surgery. You will learn what your procedure can and cannot accomplish and you will receive step-by-step post-operative care instructions, including suggested meal plans and recipes.

Step 5. Prepare for your Lapband system, gastric bypass or gastric sleeve procedure
A few weeks before your surgery, you will be placed on a liquid diet that not only helps decrease the size of the liver, but it also cleans out the colon and allows better visualization during your laparoscopic. You will also need to have your pre-operative appointment at the hospital, which includes blood work, EKG and Chest X-rays.
