BMI Calculator
What does your BMI mean?
BMI, or body mass index, is a system of measurement that helps a patient figure out how overweight he or she is. A BMI of 20 to 25 is considered normal. 25 to 30 is considered overweight. 30.1 to 34.9 is considered obese. You are a candidate for weight loss surgery if your BMI is 40 or greater or if you have a BMI between 35 and 39.9 along with a serious health problem.
"Before having surgery I was always tired, my feet and joints hurt all the time. I had no self confidence and I was depressed about the way I looked. I couldn't keep up with my 2-year-old and thought what is going to happen to me in the future? I need to take care of myself, so I can be there for my family in the future.
"I always try to maintain an active lifestyle but being so overweight I would just stay inside most of the time. I would avoid anything that involved being around large groups. Now life after surgery is just great. I love the way I look. I can keep up with my toddler and I have so much self confidence to try new things. I don't always think about if I am going to fit into a seat or if everyone is staring at me and making snide remarks. Dr. Kim has given me my life back and I can't thank him enough! He truly cares about his patients and his staff and is there for you every step of the way."
- Jennifer G.
"I love the new me…I am so happy. If you think your life cannot change, think again. I thank Dr. Kim and his staff for all they have done for me."
- Alisa R.
"I didn't just lose 100 pounds, I've also lost sleep apnea, GERD, high cholesterol, high triglycerides, plus-sized clothes, chronic fatigue, constant hunger, and a low self-esteem. But even better, I gained back my health, my life, and the knowledge that I can live long enough to enjoy my children and my grandchildren. I don't avoid mirrors and I don't dread trying on new clothes. I don't need a nap in the afternoon and I can tie my shoes without holding my breath. I can lower myself into a chair instead of dropping. I can park in the back of a parking lot and make it all the way to the store without being short of breath. I can wear pants that aren't elastic-waisted. I can cross my legs at the knee. I can play on the floor with my grandchildren and get back up without help, and I find myself smiling for no reason!"
